Two German gold and metalsmith migrants reunite after 25 years, intertwining their acclaimed techniques and approaches through mutual inspiration. SEEDS - symbolises hope, diversity, and new beginnings in their adopted homeland, exploring the parallels between immigration and the journey of seeds. Just as migrants bring new life and diversity to a country, seeds represent the potential for growth, resilience, and adaptation. Seeds are time capsules of life, having the capacity to harbour potential until the right conditions arise and resonate with the feelings and emotions we experienced starting a new life in Australia. This project delves into the symbolic meanings associated with seeds and migration, examining their ability to transform, as well as representing an expression of hope for the future. It utilises their abilities of patience, perseverance, and intuition to thrive in new environments. This duo exhibition is held in conjunction with the Radiant Pavilion in Melbourne/ Naarm, the biggest biennial of its kind in the southern hemisphere, Radiant Pavilion brings a focus to the important contribution that contemporary jewellery and object practice makes to the creative and cultural sector. It is a celebration of diversity—in makers, in methods, in themes, and in materials. "I have been contemplating a lot about attachment—how to have stability and growth in unpredictable environments, how to stay together, and when to let go.
Seaweed worked it out over millions of years. This series of brooches is inspired by my newly found love of snorkelling."

I am awestruck by the hidden beauty of the underwater world. The seaweed presents itself as perfect sculptures swaying majestically, alongside intriguing symbiotic life forms. As I learn more about their significance on our planet, I cannot ignore the devastating impact that we humans have on them.
For me, creating things is a way of comprehending and processing grief. It's an attempt to pay homage, to hold on, and to showcase their preciousness and fragility by translating my impressions into metal. The act of crafting is a meditative process.
"Having the privilege to live close by the intertidal zone
and observing throughout the seasons the washed-up
treasures of the underwater world, I realised little do I know. Particularly the seaweeds stuck to little rocks inspired and intrigued me, perfect compositions - jewels in themselves.
Reading up on it, I found out that seaweeds just do that- anchor themselves onto rocks, and it has a lovely name called “holdfast”.
I had an epiphany, that we humans also need to feel
anchored to be able to enter into a state of flow."

“Through exploring and connecting with Tasmania’s environment, I grew a deep appreciation and pure gratitude of earth’s seemingly random, but perfect and ever surprising beauty.
To give this beauty justice and a way to express its self, I captured the landscapes stories and accentuate the characters - to let them speak for themselves. The shapes and surfaces are coming from an urban, architectural background; I love simplicity and textures."
